Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ Gets Pushed Back To October 2021

The move may also delay Robert Pattinson’s upcoming Batman movie.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune reboot has been pushed back an entire year.

Coronavirus has been causing major delays for upcoming movies and now another one has bitten the dust. According to Collider, the Denis Villeneuve directed Dune reboot has been pushed to October 1, 2021. The release date may seem familiar because Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is also slated to release that day.

It’s unlikely that both movies will be released at the same time, so it seems that The Batman will get a new release date very soon. The move comes after Cineworld and Regal announced that theaters will shut down once again due to COVID-19 restrictions and I would expect WB to shuffle around their entire upcoming slate.

What do you think of the release date change? Are you disappointed that the Dune reboot won’t get released until next year? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!

Directed by Denis Villeneuve from a script he co-wrote with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts, Dune stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.

A synopsis of Dune reads as follows:

Set in the distant future, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides whose family accepts control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, control of Arrakis is highly contested among the noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s control of Arrakis.

Dune is set to hit theaters on October 1, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Dune film and make sure you subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more incredible video content and exclusives!
